One day on my way home, I captured a photo of a 90s Camry. It seemed to glow under the night sky, stirring a wave of memories about the road at night. I recalled the youth in pursuit of freedom, cruising the streets on motorcycles, the wind rushing past, or perhaps lost souls wandering aimlessly in the night.
I decided to name this new theme "NIGHTHAWKS." a narrative about teenagers boldly imagining, roaming freely, yet often feeling lost and directionless.
The fashion design for this time, the fabric patterns were inspired by the photography of GIRARD. I referenced the colors he captured in his photos and created four different fabric patterns. During this process, I didn't specifically consider how they should be coordinated with each other. Instead, I planned to create a series by piecing together different fabric patterns. This is undoubtedly a challenge, much like painting, except this time the palette is even richer. In addition to the fabric patterns, I also wanted to incorporate a sense of aimless wandering and getting lost into the designs. Imagining walking in a light drizzle, I searched for a long time and found a type of transparent heat-sealed waterproof film. I went to a factory to have it cut into circular shapes, and then ironed each piece onto the fabric panels. Just for one coat, I used around 4,000 pieces. Finally, I used the fabric patterns from the clothes to create posters for this series, piecing them together like a puzzle to form "NIGHTHAWKS."
